The most positive development for today is that the Washington Football Team will have custom WFT benches on their sideline in a road game. If you ask why, it seems to be a response to the Cowboys as they flew in custom benches into FedEx Field last week.

Who cares about custom benches? With the WFT roster in total disarray due to over 20 positive COVID tests, Washington goes to Garrett Gilbert at quarterback. It appears that Gilbert is the fifth-string quarterback on the WFT team, and debatable if he is lower than that.

Gilbert, 30, will make his second career start in the NFL tonight. He has spent parts of three seasons as a backup quarterback for the Carolina Panthers, Cleveland Browns and Dallas Cowboys. In all, he has just 44 career passes in seven games. He played for WFT coach Ron Rivera in Carolina.

This game might feel like a preseason game in which the Eagles are playing starters into the fourth quarter against Washington players who would have little chance of making an opening weekend roster.

For some of these replacement players, this is their opportunity to impress coaches throughout the league.

Both the Eagles and Washington enter with identical 6-7 records on this rare Tuesday night game.

For the bettors, the Vegas line has the Eagles favored by a hefty 9.5 points.
